CHECKME.website

Privacy Policy

Protecting your personal data is important to us. Below we inform you about which data is processed when you visit this website and use the checking function, for what purpose and on what legal basis. This website is a checking portal of the GLOBALBACK® family.

1. Data controller

The controller responsible for data processing on this website is:

GLOBALBACK
Detlef Eschner
Moerserstr. 62
47239 Duisburg
Germany

Email: email@globalback.de
Phone: +49 2151 6006849

2. General information on data processing

In principle we only process personal data insofar as this is necessary to provide a functioning website and the checking function you have requested. Personal data is any information relating to an identified or identifiable natural person – for example your IP address.

The number you enter into the check field (e.g. a serial number or a GLOBALBACK ID) is, on its own, generally not personal data. However, a personal reference may arise if such a number is linked with further information. We therefore handle all data transmitted via this website in compliance with data protection law.

3. Hosting

This website is operated by an external service provider (host). The personal data collected on this website is stored on the host’s servers. This may include, in particular, IP addresses, contact details and other data generated via a website.

The host is:

STRATO AG
Otto-Ostrowski-Straße 7
10249 Berlin
Germany

The host is used for the purpose of performing our contract with our users and in the interest of a secure, fast and efficient provision of our online offering (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). A data processing agreement (DPA) pursuant to Art. 28 GDPR is in place with the host, ensuring processing in compliance with data protection law.

4. Server log files

The provider of this website automatically collects and stores information in so-called server log files, which your browser transmits automatically. These are:

This data is not merged with other data sources. It is collected on the basis of Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. The website operator has a legitimate interest in the technically error-free presentation and the security of its website; for this purpose the server log files must be recorded.

5. SSL/TLS encryption

For security reasons and to protect the transmission of confidential content, this site uses SSL or TLS encryption. You can recognise an encrypted connection by the fact that the browser’s address bar changes from „http://“ to „https://“. When encryption is active, the data you transmit to us cannot be read by third parties.

6. Checking function (status query)

Using the input field on this website, you can query the status of a number (e.g. a serial number or a GLOBALBACK ID). The process is as follows:

The legal basis for the processing is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. Our legitimate interest lies in providing the checking function you have expressly requested.

7. Contact / found report

If a query results in a match, you can trigger a contact or found report via a button. This function is provided on the platform www.globalback.de; clicking it redirects you there. The GLOBALBACK privacy policy applies to the processing of your contact data that takes place there (for example for the anonymous mediation between finder and owner). The controller remains the same as stated in section 1.

8. Recipients and storage period

Your data is transmitted to third parties only to the extent technically necessary. A recipient within the meaning of the GDPR is the host named in section 3, acting as a processor. No transfer to third countries (outside the EU/EEA) takes place.

We store personal data only for as long as is necessary for the stated purposes or as required by statutory retention obligations. Server log files are automatically deleted or anonymised after a short time.

9. Your rights

Within the framework of the applicable statutory provisions, you have the following rights:

To exercise these rights, an informal message to the controller named in section 1 is sufficient.

Right to object (Art. 21 GDPR)

Where data is processed on the basis of Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR, you have the right to object to this processing at any time on grounds relating to your particular situation.

Right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority

You have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority. The competent authority is:

State Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information North Rhine-Westphalia (LDI NRW)
Kavalleriestraße 2–4
40213 Düsseldorf
Germany

10. Access logs for abuse prevention

To prevent automated misuse, we log accesses to this website. In doing so we process: IP address; date and time; the page accessed (domain and path) and the language; the previously visited page (referrer), if transmitted; and the browser identifier (user agent). This technical data is transmitted to and processed on our central server at globalback.de; this portal and globalback.de are operated by the same controller, so no transfer to third parties is involved.

To limit automated status queries, we also store your IP address briefly in pseudonymised form (rate limit). The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in IT security and abuse prevention). The logs are automatically deleted after 30 days at the latest; no cookies are set for this purpose. You may object to this processing at any time on grounds relating to your particular situation in accordance with Art. 21 GDPR.

11. Validity and changes to this privacy policy

This privacy policy is currently valid. As this website develops further or due to changed legal requirements, it may become necessary to amend this privacy policy.
